Changeover Valves are used for Dual Pressure Relief Valve Systems and as Switchover Valves from one line to another. The design of these valves makes it impossible to shut-off both valve outlets at the same time. During operation, one valve port opens as much as the other one closes.

Pressure Vessels have to be equipped with Pressure Relieving Devices (Rupture Discs, Relief Valves), and it is desirable to have Dual Devices to guarantee continuous operation. Changeover Valves present the most suitable solution to providing two Relief Devices on one pressure vessel outlet. At the same time, they comply with ASME Codes regarding "Stop Valves Between Pressure Relieving Device And Vessel" and the 3% "Inlet Pressure Drop For... Pressure Relief Valves in Compressible Fluid Service."
